In any research on the cognitive and thought process of human and artificial intelligences, multi-disciplinary conversion studies are absolutely necessary. The recent unexpectedly rapid progress in computer Baduk (Go; Weiqi) programs (as is evidenced by Alpha-Go) provides us with strong impetus for such recent trends. This workshop is schemed to find a clue to uncover the secrets of human cognition and thinking by promoting dialogues and collaborative researches between distinguished scholars in Baduk studies from Korea, Japan, and China on the one hand, and the logicians, cognitive scientists, and computer scientists from Western countries on the other hand.
By collaborating with these invited speakers, Korean scholars in Baduk studies, who are experimenting on various new fields of Baduk studies, will secure in-depth philosophical reflections on the identity of their scientific discipline, as well as ground-breaking new practical ideas for developing AI Baduk program that will outweigh top-level human Baduk players.
