ON PROTEST
CFP for Undergraduate Philosophy Conference
April 7-8, 2017
Paper Submission Deadline: Feb.1, 2017
The Gonzaga University chapter of Phi Sigma Tau is inviting undergraduates to submit quality papers for the inaugural Gonzaga Undergraduate Philosophy Conference in the spring of 2017. This year’s theme is On Protest.
Protest evokes a sense of action and passion. One may react critically and deliberately to a political situation of event. To protest, indeed to rebel, is to stand in the face of that which we deem unacceptable and to work fully and faithfully against it, be it political, cultural, religious or otherwise.
All areas of philosophical inquiry are welcome and encouraged, though some preference will be given to those addressing the idea of protest. Consistent with our Jesuit values, we are dedicated to promoting academic diversity, courage and an effort to foster a strong community of inquiry.
The conference will be held April 7-8, at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. Papers should be submitted for consideration by Feb. 1, 2017. All papers should be formatted for blind review as a PDF or word doc, meaning they contain no identifying information in the document. Papers are not to exceed 3000 words and should be suitable for a 20-minute or less presentation, accounting for an additional 15 minutes for questions and discussion. Papers will be reviewed and submissions will be accepted by Feb. 28, 2017.
Submit papers and inquiries to Davy Nguyen at [email protected].
