CALL FOR PAPER III, 9, 2017: HEIDEGGER AND LANGUAGES. LEGACY AND DIALOGUES

Dead line: August 10, 2017

Using the term ‘languages’ in the plural rather than the singular form might seem improper, if this is about the philosophy of Heidegger. In fact, according to Heidegger, language is “idem et unum”, as Ereignis’s original Saying. However, in ‘On the Way to Language’, Heidegger not only emphasizes the unity/uniqueness of Saying (“language is monologue …; it alone speaks …; it speaks lonesomely”), but he also reminds us that “only he can be lonesome who is ‘not alone’, means not apart, singular without any rapports”. Then it is no coincidence the subsequent reference to the known verse of Hölderlin “…we are a conversation / and can hear from one another”.

In this issue of “Logoi” we want to investigate the relationship between monologue and dialogue within Heidegger’s thought and in particular we want to collect contributions that can show the fruitful legacy of Heidegger also in relation to the languages of the arts: poetic/literary, artistic/visual, musical, etc.

Sections “Theoretical Issues”:

– Essays on:

  • Heidegger, Language, Languages
  • Heidegger and Arts
  • Heidegger and Poetry (and/or Literature)
  • Heidegger and Music
  • Heidegger and Cinema

… and other Languages

We accept contributions, essays, interviews and translations that, in relation to these sections, analyze Heidegger’s texts, but we accept also proposals of significant parallels (on these issues) between Heidegger and other thinkers.

Sections “Teaching Philosophy”

We accept contributions that, in relation to these sections,

(a) discuss the possibilities and difficulties of teaching (in high schools) Heidegger’s philosophy;

(b) tell experiences of teaching (in high schools) philosophy of Heidegger;

(c) propose ‘Teaching resources’, about the possibility of teaching Heidegger’s philosophy in high schools.
