The Stockholm Centre is pleased to announce its 4th Annual Reading Retreat, which is co-hosted with RSSS at ANU, and will take place at ANU’s fabulous Kioloa costal campus. We invite submissions from current graduate students and early career scholars (within three years of receiving their PhD). Papers should address philosophical issues relating to the ethics of war and peace, broadly construed. This includes, for example, papers on causation, responsibility, collective action, punishment and self-defence, as well as more tradition ‘just war’ topics. Each successful applicant will be allocated a faculty respondent, who will provide written comments and a verbal response at the retreat.
Papers should be no longer than 8000 words, and prepared for blind review. Submissions from graduate students should include a letter from their department confirming their year of study. Submissions from early career researchers should include confirmation that they are within three years of receiving their PhD. Please do not include additional materials, such as letters of reference. Scholars working in Australasia are especially encouraged to apply, as are members of groups traditionally underrepresented in philosophy. Successful applicants will receive a bursary towards their travel, and have their meals and accommodation covered. The deadline for submissions is Tuesday 1st May, 2017. Applications and enquiries should be sent to [email protected].
This is a student event (e.g. a graduate conference).
