Between the 12th and 30th of September, 1912, the youthful Ludwig Wittgenstein and his friend, David Pinsent, traveled in and around Iceland. To commemorate the 100th anniversary of their visit, the Department of Philosophy of the University of Iceland (now part of the Faculty of History and Philosophy), in cooperation with the University’s Institute of Philosophy, will host a conference, “In Wittgenstein’s Footsteps”, to be held 14-17 September 2012 at the University of Iceland.
Conference Program:
The structure of the program is as follows:

Friday, September 14th, an introductory program in the evening (18:00-20:00).

Saturday and Sunday, September 15th and 16th, full-day programs of papers (09:00-17:00)

Sunday evening, September 16th, a conference banquet (optional)

Monday, September 17th, a guided bus tour (optional) of the route taken by Wittgenstein and Pinsent in their visit to Iceland 100 years ago; this tour will likely take about 8 hours.
