Big Data: ethical issues at the face of research

University of Leeds, 27-28 June 2017

This conference will explore central ethical issues regarding data analytics and big data research.  Sponsored by the EPSRC-funded QuantiCode project, the conference will bring together practitioners and theorists in data analytics to examine areas such as societal research, privacy by design, the value of informed consent, and the impact of the General Data Protection Regulation.  Particular focus will be paid to the ethical and compliance issues arising from the methods and practices of data analytics, rather than the end use of the analytic process.  This will contribute to broad thinking around the issues of data analytics as well as the QuantiCode project itself.
