The WMU Graduate Student Association of Philosophers is pleased to announce its 11th Annual Graduate Student Philosophy Conference. The conference will take place at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan, on December 7-9, 2017. We are excited to have Dr. Charles Mills (CUNY), Dr. Derrick Darby (U of M), and Dr. Talia Mae Bettcher (CAL STATE LA) join us as our keynote speakers this year.
Submissions by graduate and undergraduate students in any field of philosophy are welcome; special attention will be given to papers related to the keynote speakers’ areas of specialization and from members of historically underrepresented groups.
Previous keynote speakers include: Jennifer Lackey, Helen Frowe, Jonathan Schaffer, Ted Sider, Peter Railton, and Hilary Kornblith.
The conference is free and open to the public.
Submissions should not exceed 3500 words and should be accompanied by an abstract of less than 350 words. Please send submissions to [email protected] in PDF format. Include your name, affiliation, and paper title in the email, and prepare your submission for blind review by removing any identifying information from the body of the paper. Also, if applicable, please include the following statement in the email: I am a member of an underrepresented group.
The deadline for submission is October 1, 2017.
Limited housing accommodations and local transportation are available for presenters from WMU graduate students upon request. Dinner will be provided for conference participants on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night. Any questions about the conference should be sent to [email protected].
This is a student event (e.g. a graduate conference).
