Details

Sara L. Uckelman (Tilburg University), along with Valentin Goranko (Technical University of Denmark), have recently taken over the position of logic area editor for the Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy (IEP) http://www.iep.utm.edu/home/about. Quoting from the IEP website:

“The purpose of the IEP is to provide detailed, scholarly information on key topics and philosophers in all areas of philosophy. The Encyclopedia’s articles are written with the intention that most of the article can be understood by advanced undergraduates majoring in philosophy and by other scholars who are not working in the field covered by that article. The IEP articles are written by experts but not for experts in analogy to the way the Scientific American magazine is written by scientific experts but not primarily for scientific experts.”

The logic section of the IEP is still at a stage of early development, and it is our ambition to attract high quality contributions from internationally leading experts on a variety of logic-related topics and to gradually develop and maintain that section as the most popular and authoritative online source of knowledge and information in the broad area of philosophical logic.

We are currently soliciting proposal for articles between 4,000 and 12,000 words (typically between 6,000 – 10,000 words), on the following topics:

Augustus de Morgan
Aristotelian Logic (excluding the modal syllogistic)
History of Indian Logic
C.I. Lewis
David Lewis
Logical Connectives
Logical Laws
Philosophy of Logic
Principia Mathematica
W.V.O. Quine
Russell's Logic
Semantics
Theory of Descriptions
Truth

All articles are peer reviewed usually by 2 expert reviewers, and if necessary revised before final acceptance. The production time for the article is by mutual agreement, preferably not more than 3-4 months. Please see the Guidelines for Authors on http://www.iep.utm.edu/submit /authors/ for further instructions.

If you are interested in writing an article on one of the above topics, please send an email to [email protected] with a brief CV and outline of the proposed article, as well as a suggested deadline.

Any other questions can also be directed to me at the same address.
