Details

As the first and foremost scientific association in the area of ethics in science and technology, the Iranian Association for Ethics in Science and Technology (IAEST), in collaboration with other Iranian worldly-accredited research-educational institutes, academic centers, and cultural-civil authorities, will hold the 1st International Congress on Ethics in Science and Technology in Tehran, 4-8 December 2017. IAEST aims enthusiastically to hold the congress on the basis of novel scientific approaches and accomplishments at both national and international levels, and on the basis of global society's necessity of and tendency for "ethics". The main objective of the congress is to lay stress upon the significance and priority of ethics over other equal things in all areas of science and technology, ethical impacts on miscellaneous contexts of development, and ethical obligations in academia and society. Resolved hereafter to be held regularly, the 1st congress has proceeded from general ethico-scientific subjects and backgrounds, and has strived to take into consideration the vast scope of ethics in all areas of science, technology, management, and public culture. Having adopted the central theme of "Ethics for All, Science for Sustainable Development", its main effort is dedicated to invite all relevant interested activists and stakeholders including thinkers, scientists, academic instructors, researchers, and students so as to participate in the dialog of how to ethically deal with science and technology. To hold the congress for the first time and its regular continuation along with other central themes is to find a unique opportunity to give rise toward theoretical innovations; to offer inter/national and regional investigations and experiences; to strengthen literature and resources on the realm of ethics of science and technology; to advance the level of activists' and stakeholders' acquaintance with each other in order to form a national and regional network of academics; and to expand interdisciplinary and intercultural relationships in academia and civil society.

The congress only accepts extended abstracts (400-600 words). The official languages are both English and Persian.

The deadline for abstract submission has recently been extended to 22 September 2017!

LOCAL GRANT: As the congress organiser, the Iranian Association for Ethics in Science and Technology (IAEST) is entirely delighted to cover all local expenses of 10 international graduate students including local transportation, accommodation, and social programme (i.e. Tehran walking-tour).
