Details

UJ Philosophy is once again hosting a graduate student conference to celebrate World Philosophy Day. The conference has an open theme, and will include a presentation by a renowned keynote speaker, plus a roundtable discussion of the theme of that paper. A UJ faculty member or graduate student will make a brief reply to each graduate paper presented.

Postgraduate (Honours, MA and doctoral) students in Philosophy from any South African university are invited to an abstract of no more than 500 words for blind review. The deadline for submission of abstracts is Friday the 9th of November 2012. Notification of acceptance will be sent latest by Friday the 16th of November 2012. Abstracts should be sent to [email protected]. The conference format allows for a 20 min. presentation followed by a 30 min. discussion.

N.B. Presentation of a paper at the conference is a pre-requisite for, but not a guarantee of funding from UJ philosophy for UJ Philosophy postgraduates to attend and present a paper at the PSSA conference in January 2013.

Time: 9:00-17:00

Cost: Free to postgraduates whose papers have been selected for presentation; R75 per other delegate for the day (including two teas and one three-course lunch). Persons wishing to attend, but not present a paper, should RSVP to [email protected] before/on Friday the 16th of November 2012.
