2018 Joint Meeting of the South Carolina Society for Philosophy and the North Carolina Philosophical Society

John A. O'Brien Professor of Philosophy at the University of Notre Dame. 

Call for papers: Faculty and students from anywhere in the world are invited to submit abstracts for the 2018 Joint Meeting of the South Carolina Society for Philosophy and the North Carolina Philosophical Society. Submissions dealing with any topic in philosophy are welcome. 

 

For all submissions, abstracts of 400-500 words are required by January 1, 2018: Abstracts should be in a format suitable for blind review and include a title and a category (or two) in which the paper might fit at the conference. Please indicate in the body of your email the author’s name, institutional affiliation, phone number, and email address. If you wish your paper to be considered for a prize (see below), please note which award category you belong to. Final papers should be no longer than 3000 words.

Panel proposals on any topic in philosophy are also welcome: Proposals should include abstracts for each presentation. These should specify: the panel’s topic; the format of the session (including time required); the names and contact information for all panelists; and titles for papers to be presented in the panel (if any).

Three essay prizes will be awarded: The conference committee will award essay prizes for authors in the following three categories: non-tenured faculty at a South Carolina institution; graduate student; and undergraduate student at a South Carolina institution. All authors wishing to be considered for one of these essay prizes must submit the full paper, prepared for blind review, by February 1, 2018.
