Western’s MAP Chapter and the Philosophy Department’s Climate Committee are pleased to announce that their first Philosophy Undergraduate Conference will be held on FRIDAY, MARCH 2nd, 2018. This event is internal to Western University and affiliate colleges, applicants must be undergraduate students at Western.
Reflecting the commitments of both MAP and the Climate Committee, the theme of the conference will broadly focus on any of the following areas: philosophy of gender, race, sexuality, class, disability, Indigenous issues, settler colonialism, etc. Students are encouraged to submit work relating to any of these areas of philosophy. Although papers should be philosophical, authors need not be majoring/minoring in philosophy to apply.
Presentations will be no more than 15 minutes in length, followed by a short Q & A period.
------------------------------------------------------------
Students have the option to submit either:
1. A term paper, from a previous class, roughly 1500-2000 words or 15 minutes read aloud
2. An abstract, roughly 500 words
Submissions will be reviewed anonymously and selected by faculty based on relevance to the theme of this conference. The selected authors will be notified by email. Faculty organizers will be available to help authors of accepted papers/abstracts prepare for the conference.
Please submit papers/abstracts to Western’s MAP email address: [email protected] by FRIDAY, JANUARY 26th, 2018.
If you have any questions about this conference, please send an email to Western’s MAP email address ([email protected]).
