The Marquette Philosophy Graduate Student Association invites submissions for our 2018 annual spring conference.  The theme of this year’s conference is the philosophy of emotions.  We welcome submissions from graduate students broadly related to this theme.  

Possible topics include: Analyses of particular emotions (shame, disgust, love, etc.)

Emotions in the philosophy of psychiatry

Cognitive and non-cognitive theories of emotions

Moral emotions Moral sentimentalism

Evolution and emotions

Phenomenological approaches to emotions

Emotions and political resistance

Historical approaches to emotion  

Please prepare an abstract of about 500 words, prepared for blind review, and send as a PDF or Word document to [email protected].  The body of your email should include your name, paper title, email address, and institutional affiliation. The subject heading of your email should read: [your name] MUGPC Submission 18.   

If your paper is accepted, you will have 20-25 minutes for presentation. MU philosophy graduate students will serve as commentators on presented papers.  

Submission deadline: January 15, 2017.  

Housing for presenters with Marquette philosophy students may be available by request.
