Professor Yujin Nagasawa at the University of Birmingham and Dr. Benjamin Matheson at Stockholm University  have recently edited Palgrave Handbook of the Afterlife (http://www.palgrave.com/gp/book/9781137486080), which provides a sophisticated, scholarly overview of the most advanced thought regarding the idea of life after death. Its comprehensive coverage encompasses historical, religious, philosophical and scientific perspectives on afterlife beliefs.

The Philosophy of Afterlife Workshop will launch the book with three of the contributors, who will present their cutting-edge research on the philosophy of afterlife.

2.10 – 2.20: Break

2.20 – 3.30: Ben Matheson (Stockholm University), ‘The Problem of Blameworthiness in Heaven’

3.50 – 5.00: Mikel Burley (University of Leeds), ‘Rebirth/Reincarnation as a Topic for Cross-Cultural Philosophy of Religion
