Details

Philosophy will be well-represented at this year's Attending to Early Modern Women Conference, held at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, with two panels.  The Conference will be June 15-16, 2018, with a pre-conference workshop available for participants.

There is one more slot avaialble for the sessions, which engaage the topic:

"Confrontation in/about/of/for Women in Early Modern Philosophy"

Abstract submissions are encouraged for papers that examine early modern women in philosophy and confrontation. The concept of confrontation was itself theorized in the period, but the presence of early modern female scholars was (and in part, remains) confrontational to canon traditionalists. Panel participants confront confrontation by pushing on the constraints of oppression, specifically found in the period: in education, in ethics, in philosophy of religion, and in epistemology, through the work of a range of early modern women.

Abstracts should be no longer than 500 words, submitted by March 4, 2018, and be accompanied by author name, affiliation, email, and an indication of author willingness to participate if accepted.  Graduate student submissions are especially encouraged.  (Please note that the conference sponsors are not providing funding.)  Abstracts and inquiries can be directetd to Jill Hernandez ([email protected]).
