Purpose of the Workshop

The purpose of this workshop is to bring together world-leading researchers that work on the topics of perception and mental imagery. One of the main questions that we want to investigate in this workshop is how far perception and mental imagery should be understood or modelled as the result of inferential processes, and what philosophical and neuroscientific consequences such an understanding might have. Furthermore, we ask how perception and mental imagery influence our cognitive states and, thus, how they inform our beliefs and shape our actions.

Invited Speakers

Ophelia Deroy (Munich)
Edouard Machery (Pittsburgh)
Bence Nanay (Antwerp)
Jona Vance (Arizona)

Organizers

The workshop is hosted by the Emmy-Noether research group From Perception To Belief and Back Again, and it is organized by Peter Brössel (RUB Bochum), Albert Newen (RUB Bochum), and Filippo Vindrola (RUB Bochum).
