Details

Even though intentionality of action and volition has been an important part of descriptive psychology and phenomenology since its beginnings, the contribution of this tradition to the analysis of action and volition has been largely ignored in contemporary philosophy. More-over, even in contemporary approaches sympathetic to phenomenology, the analyses of action and volition developed in the Austro-German tradition and in early phenomenology are often neglected. The objective of this workshop is to bring together young research-ers (junior/assistant professors, post-docs, PhD students) working in the phenomenology of action and volition to discuss some aspects of the phenomenological and Austro-Ger-man contribution to action and volition in relation with classical or contemporary accounts. Papers addressing the contribution to this topic in the works of Brentano, Kraus, Ehrenfels, Höfler, Pfänder, Reinach, Stein, Scheler, Hildebrand, Walther, Reiner, Husserl, Merleau-Ponty, and Gestalt psychologists (among many others) are particularly welcomed.

Submitted papers, in the form of a long abstract (ca. 1000 words) or of a full paper (ca. 3000 words), should be sent by 20 April to [email protected]
