Call for Papers: The Association of Graduate Students in Philosophy at Loyola University Chicago will hold its annual graduate conference on October 12th & 13th at Loyola University Chicago. The conference will center on the theme of tragedy broadly construed, and will feature keynote addresses by Dr. Fanny Söderbäck (Depaul University) and Dr. Jacqueline Scott (Loyola-Chicago). We are now accepting paper submissions. Submission Guidelines: We welcome submissions from graduate students working in the humanities. Essays on tragedy in all areas will be considered. Topics might include: - the historic significance of tragedies and Tragedy - tragic literature and literary theory - tragedy as performance - aesthetics and theory of tragedy - tragic elements of the human condition - the fate of the tragic hero - the tragic formulas present in issues in the contemporary political landscape We especially encourage papers that address the concerns of traditionally underrepresented and marginalized groups. Please, submit full drafts of no more than 3,000 words for anonymous review to [email protected] by July 20 th , 2018. Essays should be in word or .pdf format. Please include your full name, institutional affiliation, department, and title of the essay in the body of the e-mail for submission. Notices of acceptance will be sent by August 9th, 2018.
