Workshop in Krakow: Auditory perception and musical sound

The aim of the workshop is to generate in-depth discussion about the philosophy of sound and auditory experience. The workshop will take place in the Institute of Philosophy, Jagiellonian University in Krakow on the 6-7 of November 2018.

Topics include:
Metaphysics and perception of sound
Phenomenal character of auditory experience
Music ontology
The role of sound perception in the perception of music
Higher-order and lower-order auditory properties and their perception
Auditory mental qualities and their nature

 We invite proposals from commentators with an interest in these topics who would be willing to provide brief responses to a work in progress by an invited speaker. Commentators should have a background in the topics that are the focus of the conference. They will be selected from submissions to the Call for Commentators and there will be up to 500 Euro in reimbursement for their travel and accommodation expenses. Please submit a CV and a 1-2 paragraph statement concerning how your attendance at the workshop is useful for your current research to [email protected]. The deadline for submissions is August 16th, 2018.
