Paper proposals are invited for subsidiary concurrent sessions. These may be on any aspect of the conference theme, and should take the form of an abstract of approximately 500 words, submitted by email attachment to [email protected], with contact details on the accompanying email only. The deadline for submission has been extended to 1st April 2012. Decisions will be communicated by 1st May 2012.

Financial support including travel and lodging is available for up to six graduate paper presentations. Successful proposals will be eligible for the 2013 George Davie Essay Prize - $1000 plus publication in the Journal of Scottish Philosophy. George Elder Davie was a key figure in the revival of interest in the Scottish philosophical tradition, and especially its development in the 19th century – the topic of his influential book The Democratic Intellect (1961). Following his death in 2007, at the age of 95, the Journal of Scottish Philosophy, of which he had been honorary editor, established an essay prize for new work on the Scottish philosophical tradition, especially by younger scholars.
