The Graduate Student Council (GSC) of the APA will be hosting a Group Session at the Eastern APA. Our session, “Surviving and Thriving in Grad School” will be held on Wednesday, January 9, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.
The session will involve an introduction to the GSC, as well as a discussion and Q&A session about how to survive and thrive in grad school.
We are looking for panelists to talk about their graduate school experience and respond to audience questions during the Q&A session. To apply to be a panelist, send us a proposal of 100-200 words that describes what you would like to share with fellow graduate students. This can be a challenge that you overcame and how you overcame it, a positive feature of your experience that you think others could benefit from hearing about, or general advice you’d like to share. Potential topics include but are not limited to: funding; health and mental health; opportunities for research training and experience; opportunities for teaching and/or pedagogical training; time management and productivity; managing relationships (with advisers, committee members, other professors, other graduate students, the rest of the world).
Proposals of 100-200 words are due on November 20. Please send your proposal to [email protected] with the subject line “Proposal for GSC Panel at APA Eastern.”
Note that, unfortunately, we cannot offer travel funding at this time. However, panelists who cannot travel to the conference because of the travel ban or for reasons related to disability can participate remotely, and are especially encouraged to apply.
Feel free to contact us ([email protected]) if you have any questions.
