INTERNATIONAL GRADUATE WORKSHOP
Reflection and Reflective Judgment in Kant

The Kant Research Group at Aarhus University are happy to invite talk proposals from graduate students for the international workshop taking place as part of the 3rd annual Aarhus Kant Week. The aim of the workshop is allow graduate students and more established Kant scholars to discuss work-in-progress and foster mutually beneficial interactions between students and scholars alike.

The theme of this year’s workshop is Reflection and Reflective Judgment in Kant. We especially invite talks covering the interconnection between the first and the third Critiques. However, proposals focusing on any other topic from the third Critique are also welcome. Possible talks include but are not limited to:

-          Reflection in the Critique of Pure Reason and in the Critique of Judgment

-          The role of concepts in reflective judgment

-          Kant’s typology of reflection

-          The methodology of Reflection and reflective judgment

-          Transcendental reflection and reflective judgment

-          Reflection in Kant’s aesthetics

-          Reflection in Kant’s teleology

At the workshop, each paper will be given a 1 hour time slot with roughly 40 minutes of presentation and 20 minutes of discussion.

As part of the Aarhus Kant Week 2019, Rachel Zuckert (Nothwestern University) will be visiting Aarhus University from 13-16 May 2019. She will be teaching a master class on “Kant on Reflective Judgment” on 14 May. Attendance of the master class will be free of charge for speakers at the Graduate Workshop.

For the selected candidates the workshop organizers will be able to pay 3 nights of stay in Aarhus during the Kant Week and travel expenses up to 2500 Danish crowns (approx. 335 euro).

Extended abstracts (500-800 words) and a resume (CV) should be sent to the conference organizers via e-mail to [email protected]by 8 April 2019. Invitations to contributors chosen will be sent out within a week from the application deadline.
