The RMA Music and Philosophy Study Group warmly invites paper submissions for this two-day international conference, to be held in London on 20-21 July 2012. The event, the second of an annual series of conferences run by the Study Group, will offer an opportunity for those with an interest in music and philosophy to share and discuss work, in the hope of furthering dialogue in this area.

Respondents to keynote speakers include:

  • Paul Boghossian (New York University)
  • Peter Dews (University of Essex)
  • Joseph Dubiel (Columbia University)

There will be an opening plenary session addressing the question 'Is Adorno a dead duck?' with:

  • Roger Scruton (University of St Andrews)
  • Andrew Bowie (Royal Holloway, University of London)
  • Stephen Hinton (Stanford University)

The conference will close with a summary plenary discussion whose panellists include:

  • Jerrold Levinson (University of Maryland)
  • Babette Babich (Fordham University)

An accommodation booking deadline of Sunday 17 June has been imposed for this event. If you require accommodation, please be sure to register for the conference by this date. Accommodation is at International Hall (central London, near Russell Square) and costs £42 per night.

Registration is otherwise open until Saturday 30 June, although due to the high level of interest in the event, we recommend early booking. Conference attendance is open to all and we warmly encourage the participation of non-speaking delegates.

For more information, including details of how to register and a draft programme, please visit the conference website: http://www.musicandphilosophy.ac.uk/conference-2012/
