Details

Our next workshop in collaboration with Melbourne Free University is a response to the enigma of suicide, and the countless lives it has claimed. In 1942, Albert Camus argued that suicide is the one ‘truly serious philosophical problem’. However, as with death, we tend to avoid talking about suicide. In this workshop, we will consider suicide as an ancient and complex cultural phenomenon. Our primary educators for this workshop, Justin Clemens (Melbourne Uni) and Jon Roffe (Deakin Uni), will use art and philosophy to discuss the various manifestations of suicide as an ultimate gesture of an individual. Our guests will provide an insight into what it is like to descend into a place where one has to make a difficult choice. Please RSVP to us at [email protected] if you’d like to attend. All welcome, as always.
