The fourth edition of the FILOMENA Workshop (Philosophy, Logic and Analytic Metaphysics) has the purpose of gathering logicians working at the intersection of Logic and Metaphysics, through the application of formal methods in Philosophy.   

Topics of interest for our workshop include, but are not limited  to:

  • Logic and Metaphysics 
  • Philosophical topics in non-classical logics 
  • The metaphysical commitment(s) of logic(s)
  • Formal approaches to metaontology
  • Demarcating logic and science 
  • Abductivism in logic

The workshop will allow 45 minutes for each contributed talk, divided into 30 minutes for exposition followed by 15 minutes of discussion. Abstracts should be written in English, have at most 500 words and be prepared for blind review. Please include relevant information about the author (name, e-mail address, and scientific affiliation) in the body of the email. Please submit an editable file (such as .doc, .odt, .tex) along with a .pdf file of your abstract to the email [email protected]. The extended submissions deadline is July 7th and you should expect a notification by July 21st. A model of the abstract in .tex is is available at https://goo.gl/HGxjzu.

There are three bursaries available to the amount of 5000 NOK each, which are available to early career researchers. If you are interested in applying for a bursary, please indicate so in the email.

Participants will be invited to submit to the proceedings, which will be published as a special edition of the journal “Principia: an international journal of epistemology”.

The 4th Filomena Workshop will be followed on the 17-18 by the workshop “How do logics explain?” All participants of Filomena are cordially invited to attend this workshop as well.
