The Diversity Institute Advisory Panel welcomes papers for special DIAP sessions at the 2020 APA meetings.

The DIAP sessions showcase current research by alumni of various Philosophy Diversity Institutes. The purpose of these sessions is threefold 1) give Diversity Institute Alumni the opportunity to practice presenting their research at a professional conference, 2) provide feedback on Diversity Institute Alumni projects, and 3) provide an opportunity to network with senior scholars in one’s area of research as well as Diversity Institute Alumni from various cohorts and programs.

Alumni from the following institutes are encouraged to submit papers for a special session:

  • Rutgers Summer Institute for Diversity in Philosophy
  • Philosophy in an Inclusive Key Summer Institute  (PIKSI-Rock, PIKSI-Boston, PIKSI-Logic
  • UC San Diego’s Summer Program for Women in Philosophy
  • Summer Immersion Program in Philosophy at Brown
  • COMPASS Workshop at University of Michigan

There will be special sessions at the 2020 Eastern, Central, and Pacific. When submitting their paper, authors will be asked to list regional preferences. Accepted participants will be eligible to apply for up to $500 in travel support from the Diversity Institute Alumni Fund.

Papers should be no more than 3,000 words and prepared for anonymous review. Papers should be submitted through this Google Form (https://forms.gle/69XMa186wRN9zen4A) by August 15, 2019. Authors will be notified of decisions by late September.

Questions can be directed to the DIAP session coordinator, Asia Ferrin at ferrin@american.edu
