Details

Sofia University, Bulgarian Society for Analytic Philosophy, South-West University "Neofit Rilski", and ISSK, BAS together with the kind support of the Austrian Embassy in Bulgaria are organizing a conference celebrating the 130th birthday of Ludwig Wittgenstein.

Ludwig Wittgenstein, the Austrian-born British philosopher, regarded by many as one of thegreatest and most influential philosophers of the twentieth century, played a central role in the originationof analytic philosophy. He still influences current philosophical thought in topics as diverse as logic and language, perception and intention, ethics and religion, aesthetics and culture.  What is beyond question is that by showing the application of modern logic tometaphysics, via language, Wittgenstein provided new insights into the relations between world, thought andlanguage and thereby into the nature of philosophy.

Researchers and doctoral students who are interested in Wittgenstein`s work are encouraged to submit an abstract prepared for a double-blind review. Abstracts should not exceed 500 words. All submissions should be suitable for presentation of approximately 20 minutes in length. After each presentation, speakers will have 10 minutes for discussion. The deadline for submissions is September 8th, 2019.

Please submit your proposal at: [email protected]

We particularly encourage submissions in the following fields:

- Wittgensteinian Conceptions of Linguistic Communications

- Wittgensteinian Themes in Self-knowledge, Self-ascription, and Self-expression.
