The Second Open Congress of Russian Society for History and Philosophy of Science (RSHPS)

entitled “Science as a public good”, to be held on September 25-27, 2020, in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

The Organizing Committee cordially invites historians, philosophers and all scientists interested in HPS from all over the world to participate at the Second Open Congress of Russian Society for History and Philosophy of Science (RSHPS).

The Congress will be organized by the Russian Society for History and Philosophy of Science and Saint Petersburg State University.

The Congress covers all areas of HPS & STS, which are present today in Russia, including new emerging areas, which only begin to develop in this country. With the theme “Science as a public good” the Second Congress will emphasize the issues in relationships between philosophical, scientific, technological research and society in the modern times and historical perspective. Among them are the connection of scientific activity with significant public purposes, the place of scientific expertise in topical public discussions, the ability of scientific knowledge to respond to the big challenges of our time.

The working languages of the Congress are Russian and English

Conference fee

50 Euro (normal) and 25 Euro (for students) could be paid by the conference registration. This includes the distribution of the conference proceedings, organization of coffee breaks & welcoming party, Russian visa support and a competence advice in terms of the hotel accommodation.

Submissions

Potential contributors are asked to send abstracts up to 10 000 character or up to 1500 words by October 15, 2019 to congress20 (at) rshps (dot) as attachments in RTF or DOC format (or PDF in case of complex formulas and graphs). In the beginning of the abstract please specify your full name, affiliation, email and the name of section or round table you prefer to participate in. Then add a short abstract (up to 100 words) and the main body of the submission. Please use automatic endnotes rather than footnotes.

Note that each person (or group of co-authors) may submit only one abstract. Accepted abstracts will be published in the Congress Proceedings. The Organizing Committee reserve the right to offer a contributor a plenary or section time slot, participate in a round table or make a poster presentation. Abstracts must not be or have been published, presented at or submitted to any other meeting prior to the Congress.
