Details

The Philosophy Department of Bowling Green State University invites submissions to its 7th annual Graduate Student Workshop in Applied Philosophy. While we accept submissions in any area of applied philosophy, this year's theme focuses on traditional and nontraditional views of the self, free will, and other questions of personal identity.

The aim of the workshop is to bring together graduate scholars working in applied philosophy topics to encourage constructive discussion and debate. Each presenter will be given an undivided audience, a commentator and at least 20 minutes for questions.

Sample topics may include but are not limited to:

Do current conceptions of free will disadvantage members of certain social/racial groups?

To what extent is the self intersocially defined?

Do psychiatric disorders entail a change in personal identity?
