Philosophy of Biology at the Mountains (POBAM) 2020, Workshop + Seminar

Philosophy of Biology at the Mountains (POBAM) is a biennial forum for new work in the philosophy of biology. As a joint workshop and seminar, POBAM provides an opportunity for participants to engage with exciting new work in the field and to receive constructive feedback on projects from interested colleagues and peers.

The POBAM Workshop showcases new peer-reviewed work in the philosophy of biology. Submissions can be on any topic in the philosophy of biology or biology-oriented philosophy of science, though priority is given to novel and innovative work. Interdisciplinary projects bridging philosophy and biology are highly encouraged. Please note the workshop call for abstracts is now active (https://philevents.org/event/show/78886).

The POBAM Seminar is designed for advanced undergrads, grads, postdocs, and other junior scholars working in the philosophy of biology. Seminar sessions aim to promote innovation and highlight areas of potential new research. The seminar is available to all participants and may be taken either for academic credit or certification.

Seminar instructors for 2020 include Melinda Fagan (University of Utah), Carla Fehr (University of Waterloo), Stephen Downes (University of Utah), Catherine Kendig (Michigan State University), and Roberta Millstein (UC Davis). Others to be announced.

Please visit the POBAM 2020 website (linked below) for additional info and updates.
