CFP: Conference on Logic, Questions and Inquiry - LoQI

The aim of the Conference on Logic, Questions and Inquiry (LoQI) is to address issues in the philosophical and logical investigations of questions and inquiry from the various perspectives of formal epistemology, formal semantics and pragmatics, philosophy of science and philosophy of mathematics. The conference intends to bring together researchers from these different fields in order to trigger interactions between the various existing approaches to questions and inquiry, and to promote cooperation and exchange on research projects related to these issues. The event will then be the occasion to assess the different past scientific contributions on these topics, and to discuss possibilities for new research directions.

The conference will welcome 9 invited speakers, along with some contributed speakers. We invite submissions addressing issues related to Logic, Questions and Inquiry, and we encourage specifically submissions connecting the different themes of the conference. Submission exploring connections to philosophy of science and philosophy of mathematics are very welcome.

Possible topics to be discussed at the conference comprise, but are not restricted to:

• Formal models of inquiry
• Logics, semantics and pragmatics of questions
• Logical and philosophical developments of Hintikka's IMI
• Interaction between learning theory and logics of questions
• Interaction between belief revision theory and logics of questions
• Interaction between learning theory and belief revision theory
• The social dimension of inquiry
• Questions and inquiry in the philosophy of empirical sciences
• Questions and inquiry in the philosophy of mathematics
• Questions and inquiry in formal and mainstream epistemology

SUBMISSION INFORMATION

Abstracts of at most 2 pages length should be submitted via our webpage at http://loqi.sciencesconf.org by clicking "Submit" on the left column. Deadline for submissions is March 1st, and the date for notifications is March 31st.

STUDENT TRAVEL GRANTS

We will be able to award few travel grants to graduate students with accepted contributed talks to assist them in their travel expenses. For travel grant applications, send a CV and an application letter to [email protected]
