The 8th Principia International Symposium will be held in Florianópolis, Brazil, on August 12-15, 2013. Its main subject is the philosophy of Hilary Putnam.

The previous seven symposia in this series have been dedicated respectively to Principles in philosophy and in the sciences (1999), to the Philosophy of Bertrand Russell (2001), to the Philosophy of Willard van Orman Quine (2003), to the Philosophy of Donald Davidson (2005), to the Philosophy of Bas van Fraassen (2007), to Charles Darwin and his impact into philosophy and the sciences (2009), and to the Philosophy of Nelson Goodman (2011).

All these symposia were organized by NEL – Logic and Epistemology Research Group and the editors of Principia an International Journal of Epistemology, belonging to Federal University of Santa Catarina, Florianópolis, Brazil.

This 8th Principia Symposium is also being organized by NEL – Logic and Epistemology Research Group, along with of Principia’s editors, and the support of the Graduate program in Philosophy and the Philosophy department of Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), Brazil.
