The Program in Ancient Philosophy at the University of Michigan is pleased to announce the 1st annual Rackham Interdisciplinary Workshop in Ancient Philosophy. The event will be held in Ann Arbor, Michigan on May 4, 2020. We invite proposals from graduate students and early career faculty, on any topic in the field of ancient Greek and Roman philosophy. Given the interdisciplinary nature of the program at the University of Michigan, we welcome papers that involve a variety of approaches to the ancient texts, whether they be analytical, philological, literary, comparative, or historical. Each presenter will be given 25 minutes for oral presentation, which will be followed by 20 minutes of formal response and audience discussion.

To submit a paper for consideration, please send a single, PDF document containing a 300-500 word abstract to [email protected]. The document should contain no identifying information, but the body of the email should contain your name, paper title, university affiliation and position. Abstracts are due no later than February 15, 2020. Applicants will be notified of their acceptance by March 5, 2020. Full papers will be due to commentators by April 15, 2020.

Feel free to send questions to Lianghua (Glenn) Zhou, at [email protected].
