CFP: Weak Scientism and the Future of Philosophy

The Social Epistemology Review and Reply Collective (SERRC) invites contributions to a dialogue on Weak Scientism, which will then serve as the foundation for an edited collection on Weak Scientism for the Collective Studies in Knowledge and Society book series (published by Rowman and Littlefield International: https://www.rowmaninternational.com/our-books/series/collective-studies-in-knowledge-and-society). There has been an ongoing dialogue on Weak Scientism--which is the view that scientific knowledge is the best, although not the only, knowledge we have--at SERRC with the following contributions already published:

• Kidd, Ian James. 2019. “Scientism and the ‘Soul of Philosophy’.” Social Epistemology Review and Reply Collective 8 (11): 52-54.

Additional contributions to the SERRC dialogue should be roughly 1500 to 2500 words in length and follow the guidelines for authors outlined here: https://social-epistemology.com/article-submissions/. The deadline to submit contributions to the SERRC dialogue is May 1, 2020.

Contributions to the SERRC dialogue can then be developed into full-length book chapters for the edited collection on Weak Scientism, tentatively titled “Weak Scientism and the Future of Philosophy,” which will be edited by Moti Mizrahi (Florida Tech). In that respect, book chapters will be significantly longer (roughly 5000 to 6000 words in length) and more developed than the shorter SERRC pieces on which they can be based.
