Neuroenhancement as pharmacological modulation of neural processing, has attracted a lot of attention during the last decade. In particular, the possibility to improve certain aspects of our cognitive abilities has opened up a highly interdisciplinary discussion on the fundamental ethical and philosophical issues regarding the moral justification of enhancing.
This 2-day workshop at Ruhr-University Bochum brings together scholars from Philosophy, Medicine and Medical Ethics, Psychology, and Neuroscience to examine recent developments in the ethical evaluation of the topic, to exchange results on the prevalence of neuroenhancement among students and health care populations, and to discuss the neural effects of pharmacological enhancers on cognitive and moral processing.
