Details

The Saint Louis University Undergraduate Philosophy Club, in conjunction with SLU's Department of Philosophy, is issuing a call for papers to be presented at its 5th Annual Undergraduate Philosophy Conference! The conference will take place on April 17th and April 18, 2020 at Saint Louis University. The keynote address will be given by M. Ross Romero, SJ, Ph.D. (Creighton, Philosophy). Romero is part of the Philosophy as a Way of Life Network, and the organizer of this year's national "Philosophy as a Way of Life" conference.

This conference aims to provide undergraduate students an opportunity to present their work to their peers and to interact with students from across the country. All participants submitting papers must be undergraduate students. (Current graduate students should not submit papers to this undergraduate conference.)

Papers on any topic in philosophy, drawing from any philosophical approach, are invited; we especially welcome papers that broadly take up questions of “a way of life” and the pursuit of a good life. Papers should be 6-8 pages (not including abstract and bibliography), with a reading time of 12-17 minutes, allowing time for questions and conversation in a 30-minute session.

Submissions: Please email to [email protected] two documents: i) a cover sheet with the paper title, the author’s name, institutional affiliation, and a brief abstract (100-200 words); ii) the body of the paper (6-8 pages, with the paper title and bibliography, which should not contain any identifying information).

Paper submissions are due by March 7. Authors of accepted papers will be notified by March 15. Selection is on a competitive basis.

Overnight accommodations for accepted speakers may be available upon request.

Submissions (by March 7) and questions should be directed to [email protected]
