The Society for the Study of Ethics and Animals (SSEA) invites abstracts for a one day workshop on August 12, 2020 at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Abstracts on any topic in animal ethics are welcome, though abstracts that tackle relatively neglected topics will receive special consideration.

This preconference event is being held in conjunction with the Thirteenth Annual Rocky Mountain Ethics Congress, which takes place at CU Boulder from August 13-16. This event is made possible by generous support from CU Philosophy Department’s Center for Values and Social Policy.

Abstracts are due on March 15. Acceptance notification will be made by May 1. Abstracts should be 750-1000 words and prepared for blind review. Please submit abstracts to both C. E. Abbate ([email protected]) and Bob Fischer ([email protected]). The workshop will have a pre-read format, with the aim of providing focused, constructive feedback on works in progress. Full papers will be due on July 1 for distribution to other participants.

A $500 donation to Peaceful Prairie Sanctuary will be made in the name of the author of the best animal ethics paper that’s presented at RoME.
