18th April 2020 announcement: due to Covid91 outbreak the congress will no longer take place in 2020 September 7-9.

On September 6-8, 2021, the Sociedad de Filosofía Medieval (SOFIME, the Iberian Society for Medieval Philosophy) will hold at the Faculdade de Letras – Universidade do Porto, Portugal, its 8th International Congress, under the main subject De cognitione.

The submission period for paper proposals is open from now until March 31st, 2020. The evaluation of proposals will be released the 30th April 2020.

The general topic of the congress is the concept of cognition in its different aspects in medieval philosophy and in all of its traditions from 4th to 17th Century (Greek, Latin, Arabic, Hebrew, vernaculars).

If you wish to present a paper, please send a proposal (go to the platform: https://sofime.sci-meet.org/register/8CIFM).
Congress languages: English, French; Italian; Portuguese, Spanish.

Papers are expected into the following sections or themes: epistemology, logic, metaphysics, theology, natural sciences, political philosophy, aesthetics, ethics. However, papers on other subjects than “cognition” are also welcome, and they will be inserted in an open section.

Once your proposal has been accepted, you will be asked to pay the registration fee (Ordinary 80€, Members of SOFIME 50€ or Students 30€).
