Details

The conference, which is being organised by a team of undergraduates from the University of Sheffield and is to be attended by students from across the country, will take place on March 18th and will consist of one keynote and three undergraduate speakers. Each undergraduate speaker will present a paper for roughly twenty minutes, which will then be commented on by a fellow student before the floor is opened up for more general discussion. We would be delighted to hear from any students who are interested in speaking, and would ask them to send us an abstract for the paper they wish to present. The abstract should be no more than 300 words, and must be submitted by February 15th. Students selected to speak will be notified shortly afterwards. Papers may be taken from a dissertation, essay, or simply a pet project, and can be on any area of philosophy the speaker chooses; all that is required is that there is scope for a twenty minute presentation and that the speaker feels comfortable discussing it.

The opportunity to present a paper at a national conference is a rare and exciting one for students and would be a great addition to a CV or personal statement, especially for those considering taking philosophy to postgraduate level or pursuing a career in academia. Transportation costs will be covered and accommodation provided for students selected to speak at the conference, and we shall also be taking all the speakers out for a meal in the evening.

If you wish to submit an abstract, or would like any further details, please email us on the following address: [email protected]
