The Third Conference of the European Network on Social Ontology (ENSO-III) will be hosted by the Social Ontology Group at the Finnish Centre of Excellence in the Philosophy of Social Science and is open to researchers in all disciplines with an interest in the foundational structure of the social world.

CALL FOR PAPERS

The Third Conference of the European Network on Social Ontology (ENSO III) is now open for submissions. The present conference will scrutinize both the individual-level mechanisms that maintain and produce aspects of the social world as well as the more holistic features of societies and macro-social explanation. Contributions are expected from philosophers and non-philosophers alike, and submissions are particularly encouraged from fields such as cognitive science, behavioural science, economics and sociology, and other empirical research domains concerned with society and social affairs. In addition to discussions of other relevant topics, the present conference will involve a sustained focus directed at promoting the study of 1) social structure and agency, and 2) the explanation of social and collective action.

The European Network on Social Ontology is a vibrant community of academic scholars with a commitment to studying the philosophical aspects of human sociality from an empirically informed and multi-disciplinary point of view. The participants of the ENSO conference shall have an occasion to join the newly established International Network on Social Ontology (ISOS) and to learn more about the Journal of Social Ontology (JSO) that is published by De Gruyter. Further information can be found from: http://social.univie.ac.at/network/

The submissions for the conference are to be delivered via the EasyChair conference system by the 14th of June. The submissions should consist of an abstract of 500 - 1000 words outlining the main argument of the presentation and a short one-paragraph summary for publication in a conference booklet and/or on the website of the conference, if the paper is accepted. Notifications of acceptance or rejection will be delivered by mid-July. The submissions can be made at:

https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=enso3

The costs of attending the conference will be kept within feasible limits for all participants. Please note that first-time users will need to register for EasyChair, and requests for technical assistance should be directed at Easychair rather than to the
organizers of the conference.
