have the pleasure to invite you to the annual conference:
17th century philosophy, its sources and continuations in natural sciences:
Astronomy - Astrology - Medicine
Łódź (Poland), 8–10 September 2021
The subject of this edition of the annual 17th Century Philosophy Conference are the connections of seventeenth-century philosophy with early modern science. ‘Science’ is understood in the historically relativized sense of the term, and thus not limited by the contemporary classification of scientific disciplines. The aim of the conference is to establish paradigmatic connections and show mutual inspirations or theoretical interactions between the philosophical thought of the 17th century and early modern scientific reflection, which was carried out in the fields of both mathematical and natural sciences – with an emphasis on the relationship between philosophy and astronomy, astrology and medicine.
The conference will be held on 8–10 September 2021at the Institute of Philosophy of the University of Lodz, Poland.
A title of a 20-minute talk, an abstract (max. 1000 characters) and keywords (all in English, French or Polish) should be sent by May 1st, 2021 to [email protected]
The fee for participation in the conference is 100 Euro for participants from abroad and 350 PLN for guests from Polish institutions. The costs of travel and accommodation are covered by the participants.
Due to the epidemiological situation and the accompanying general cancellation of many meetings, events and assemblies, especially at universities, we were forced to postpone the date of our Conference (originally, it was planned for 2020). All submitted applications and abstracts will remain valid. Thank you for your willingness and readiness to come to us. If necessary, please feel free to contact us ([email protected]).
