The Department of Analytic Philosophy, University of Warsaw invites you to an online talk by Eliot Michaelson (King's College London) and Ethan Nowak (Umeå University) entitled "Metasemantics, Into the Pluriverse". The talk will take place on Tuesday, JUNE 8 at 12.00 (CEST). The event is part of the department's regular seminar and is organized by Dan Zeman and Joanna Odrowąż-Sypniewska. Please write to [email protected] if you want to participate.

Here is the abstract of the talk:

There are, we argue, good reasons to be pluralists about the metasemantics of context-sensitive terms. Here, we consider whether that means that we should be pluralists about the semantics of such terms as well. After sketching what we take this to mean, we argue that the answer is 'no'. Meta-semantic pluralism can, we argue, is an equally-good way of accounting for some of the motivations which have led philosophers to embrace semantic pluralism, but in a neater package.
