Details

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Schopenhauer Research Centre, we are pleased to announce that the call for abstracts for participation at the 7th Graduate Conference on Schopenhauer’s philosophy is now open. We welcome contributions on all aspects of the philosophy of Schopenhauer and the Schopenhauer school, as well as their relation to different philosophical traditions – such as, albeit not exclusively, Ancient and Medieval philosophy, Oriental philosophy, German Idealism, Nietzsche, Freud, or Critical Theory.

Organized by the Schopenhauer Research Centre (Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz) since 2007, the Conference has established itself as the major venue for doctoral students to present their work on Schopenhauer’s philosophy and related topics as part of their PhD project. This year, the conference will be held on September 20–21, 2021, at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, in immediate connection with the conference “Kant and Schopenhauer in Dialogue” featuring talks of leading senior scholars in the field (September 22–24, 2021, the program see here).

Abstracts of 300 to 500 words in German or English, along with a short CV, should be sent to [email protected] by August 23, 2021. For accepted contributions, travel and accommodation expenses will be covered. Alternately, participating via video-calls may too be an option, should international travel be impossible (for example, due to Coronavirus-related restrictions).
