Details

The Political Philosophy Research Laboratory at the University of Athens is glad to announce the creation of PUBLIC REALM, a Journal of Political Philosophy dedicated to Postgraduate and Early Career Scholars.

PUBLIC REALM will start as a peer-reviewed journal, where young researchers will be able to publish their original work on the field of Political Philosophy. The journal will be published bi-annually online by the National Documentation Center.

The main topic for the first issue is about ‘’Why Political Philosophy Matters’’. It is an unconditional fact that the COVID-era, a time of crisis, revealed our political nature clearer than ever. For it brought each and every one of us in front of all others; it showed, in an extravagant way, that our choices and actions have a direct impact on everyone; not only on the people close to us (family, friends, colleagues), but very literally on everyone, even on those who we came across for just once in our lifetime.

Although, all those notions that we come to use to defend our choices or demand others to act in a specific way, in order to – besides inner, personal beliefs – all of us feel respected and secure, have been forged in the centuries that came to pass. This first volume of the journal accepts contributions in relation, but not necessarily limited to, the following areas of political philosophy:

  • Ancient Political Philosophy.
  • Medieval and Renaissance Political Philosophy.
  • The Enlightenment.
  • 18th/19th Century Political Philosophy.
  • Contemporary Political Philosophy.

Both articles and book-reviews will be considered for publication, so please specify the format in your proposal. Your contribution should be about 6,000 to 10,000 words in length including references and bibliography in the case of articles, and about 1,000 to 1,500 words in length including references and bibliography in the case of book-reviews.

The deadline for articles and book-reviews submission is 28 February, 2022.

You will find more information about the style and format of the journal on our author guidelines.

Your manuscript must be uploaded through the Journal's website following the submission instructions.

We are looking forward to your contribution.
