Far Eastern University’s Institute of Education and De La Salle University-Manila’s Department of Philosophy, in partnership with Southeast Asia Research Center and Hub (SEARCH) and Samahan ng mga Lasalyanong Pilosopo (PILOSOPO), will host the First Annual International Conference on Philosophy of Education from April 21-23, 2022.

For the First Annual DLSU-FEU ICPE, we focus on philosophical dialogues on education as we look into ethics, epistemologies, and critical pedagogies highlighting issues of the global south. The discussions in philosophy of education have been dominantly leaning on Western issues and frameworks, thus, issues and contexts of the global south are underdiscussed. Joining the efforts of indigenous, post and neo-colonial, and critical scholars in education, the DLSU-FEU ICPE 2022 provides a platform for philosophers and educators alike to share their interpretative, reflexive, and critical take on educational practices, issues, and challenges in education.

In furthering the conversation, the DLSU-FEU ICPE 2022 raises questions on the purpose and nature of education, the oppressive nature of teaching and learning, hegemony of western education, indigenous education, power relations in teaching and learning, and issues on curriculum content.

Scholars in thinking through the following sub-themes:    - Teaching and learning - Education, human being and artificial intelligence - Epistemology of Education - Education and Morality - Critical Pedagogy   ICPE 2022 acknowledges that issues of the global south include language concerns.  However, the ICPE 2022 would like to reach out to a bigger audience and so we request that authors writing in their native tongue also submit their papers with an English translation.   The DLSU-FEU ICPE 2022 calls for abstracts that address any or a combination of these issues.  Abstracts of 250-300 words must have a specific claim, a well-articulated design or methodology and framework, a tentative conclusion, three to five keywords, and a list of working references.

Submissions must include full name/s of author/s and respective institutional affiliations, and sent via the ICPE 2022 Google Form: https://tinyurl.com/1stICPECFA
