Details

The graduate students of Utrecht University are delighted to announce their first student-run graduate conference. For this occasion, we invite submissions for presentation at the 2022 Utrecht Philosophy Graduate Conference, to be held the 13th and 14th of May 2022 at Utrecht University, the Netherlands. The two-day —and, hopefully, in person— conference will be entirely devoted to the presentation of graduate students’ research papers. The main objective of this conference is to serve as a venue for young scholars to come together and discuss their philosophical research interests.
We welcome submissions suitable for 20 minutes of presentation followed by 15 minutes of Q&A from graduate students—i.e., MA students and PhD candidates— in any area of philosophy. Together with an abstract, authors are encouraged to submit either a draft or a full paper version of the presentation. A selection of these will be published in Junctions, Utrecht University’s graduate journal of the Humanities (https://junctionsjournal.org/).

Abstract submission guidelines:
Please submit an abstract of approximately 500 words (excl. references) to [email protected]. The abstract should be in either .docx or .pdf format, and should be anonymized. We accept submissions in any field of philosophy, but especially welcome pieces engaging in philosophy outside the canon (for example, decolonial and feminist philosophy). Authors should also include the following information in the body of the email: name, institutional affiliation, level of studies (or PhD), title of the presentation, and its philosophical area.

The deadline for the abstract is February 28, 2022.
Notifications of acceptance will be sent on March 20, 2022.

Paper submission guidelines:
Authors are kindly welcomed to submit to the same e-mail address a full paper which will be considered for publication in Junctions. Papers should be between 4000 and 6000 words in length (excl. references) and adequately prepared for double-blind peer-review. Please omit references to the author in manuscripts to ensure anonymous reviews.
As the conference is thought of as a way to get feedback and work on the paper, the deadline for submission will be two weeks after the conference, i. e., May 27, 2022. After double-blind reviewing, accepted articles will undergo a revision process which will conclude with the publication of the journal issue.
The deadline for the full paper is May 27, 2022.

Practicalities:
There are no registration fees. Furthermore, our current intention, pending COVID-19 regulations, is to host the conference on campus. We are also planning on hosting a conference dinner and a social night. More information on these subjects will be made available shortly after the notifications of acceptance are sent out. For more information, please contact us at [email protected] or visit our website
