CFP: First Online Workshop - Bringing Contemporary Philosophy of Religion to Latin American Scholars Project

Contemporary Philosophy of Religion in the Anglophone world has been an extremely prolific field in the past few decades, as a long and rich list of companions and anthologies of published work attests. Yet, there are hardly any examples of the genre in the literature published in the Spanish speaking world. As part of the research output of the project Bringing Contemporary Philosophy of Religion to Latin American Scholars, funded by the Global Philosophy of Religion Project (GPRP) and the Templeton Foundation, the first Companion and the first Anthology to Contemporary Philosophy of Religion will be published for Spanish speaking readers with the Fondo de Cultura Económica.

Leading to the publication of the volumes, the project also intends to organize two online workshops on the main topics covered by the articles of the Companion: (i) Existence of God and his relation to the world, (ii) Divine attributes, (iii) God, freedom, and the problem of evil and suffering, and (iv) Religious epistemology.

The first workshop will take place the 28th and 29th of March and will have as keynote speakers Prof. Charles Taliaferro (St. Olaf College) and Dr. Charity Anderson (Baylor University), together with four selected participants

We invite submissions of 500 words abstracts in Spanish or English on any of the topics listed above. Selected abstracts will have to be prepared for a 25 minute presentation, plus 15 minutes of questions and answers. Help with translations will be offered to those who submit abstracts in Spanish. Presentations at the workshops could be either done in Spanish or English.

Abstracts ought to be submitted by the 20th of February to [email protected]. Notifications of acceptance will be delivered by the 27 of February. Selected abstracts will also be considered for submission to a special issue on the topics of the workshops. The special issue will be published in a reputed Spanish speaking philosophy journal.
