INDEXICALS AND DEMONSTRATIVES II
FACULTY OF PHILOSOPHY, UNIVERSITY OF WARSAW (ONLINE), 30th of June - 1st of July, 2022

INDEXICALS AND DEMONSTRATIVES II is the second of the series of the workshop-seminars planned within the project 'Semantic and epistemological aspects of ostension: from demonstrating procedures to the exploitation of the context of utterance'. The info about the first one is available here:

https://philevents.org/event/show/96674

http://pts.edu.pl/tc/indexicals-and-demonstratives-i.html

The purpose of the workshop-seminars is to gather philosophers interested in indexicality, especially in various problems connected with the distinction between proper indexicals and demonstratives (the role of intentions in determining the reference of indexicals and demonstratives, the linguistic meanings of indexical expressions etc.) and other problems in the logic, semantics and pragmatics of deictic expressions. We are especially interested in foundational philosophical questions and issues.

Invited speaker:
Geoff Georgi (West Virginia University)

We invite submissions for 60 minute talks (including 30 minutes for the discussion and commentary [the author decides if s/he wants to have a commentator]). A one-page abstract of maximum 500 words should be submitted to [email protected] by the 1st of June 2022. The abstract, in the pdf format, should be prepared for a blind peer review. The notification of acceptance will be sent by the 10th of June 2022.  The authors of the accepted papers may be asked to play a role of one of the commentators of the papers that are going to be presented by our invited speaker.

The workshop shall be an online event.
