The Covid-19 pandemic highlighted inequalities and weaknesses of the contemporary world, claiming for a renewal of social and legal structures. Undoubtedly, changes are needed to face today’s challenges from different perspectives. Healthcare systems are moving towards a profound readjustment in terms of organization and allocation of resources. New technologies are increasingly employed in sensitive contexts. Environmental dramatic changes demand intervention to restore more sustainable resource exploitation and economical approach. Religious and non-religious communities play a significant role in defining social and political balances and preserving freedom of diversity. Democratic systems themselves seem to be going through a renewal period. The Great Recession that hit the world in 2008, as well as the recent global pandemic crisis, had and are continuing to have immediate and often dramatic political effects on the democratic processes and constitutional systems of various nations.
This workshop deals with contemporary social challenges and their possible future legal and philosophical implications. Our goal is to outline the near future of philosophical and legal studies. Thus, it might be interesting to address questions such as: what is the role of law in contemporary social transformations? How will the law itself change to be up to date with innovations? What do we mean today when we think about justice in such a dynamic world? What will be the role of law in future national and transnational social organizations?

The workshop is open to all participants, especially to young scholars, postdocs, and postgraduate students of different subjects (not only legal or philosophical). The idea behind this workshop, indeed, is to establish an open network for all those scholars who intend to approach their research in an interdisciplinary way.

All interested applicants are invited to send an English abstract of no more than 300 words to [email protected] and [email protected] until May 30, 2022, at the latest.
