Introduction to Indigenous Philosophy of North America

Description

How should one become aware of the presuppositions of one's own thinking without challenging familiar knowledge structures through other points of view? In this lecture series, we want to break open the narrow meshes of western thinking and introduce the basic philosophical principles of the indigenous people of North America. From different perspectives, we will address, among other things, the connection between environment, individual and society, the contrast between Western and Indigenous North American epistemologies and ontologies and the importance of language and art as ways of influencing political reality. The event aims to overcome stereotypes, promote intercultural discourse, and open up new philosophical approaches to old and new questions. We warmly welcome all interested people from any background!
